MOS!

Outside Wesley College, 1999

My real name is Mauricio Ortiz Sanchez. As you can imagine, this can get to be a bit of a mouthfull, so most people, at least in Australia call me Mos. For those of you who seem unclear about this transformation, allow me to explain ...

Pretty cluey, huh?

As you can probably tell, I am not Australian, even though I live in Sydney. I'm actually from Mexico City, Mexico. I left when I was a little boy of 7, and started school here in Australia in 2nd grade.

After about a year and a half, we moved up to the Central Coast, where I spent most of my "growing years". I hope no one takes offence, but the Central Coast was one big hole... especially for a small brown little boy. Still.. I live on...

I am currently doing an Honors year in Art History and Theory at The University of Sydney. This will be my sixth year of tertiary study, and at this rate, I may very well stay in Uni for a long time yet! In reality, I quite like my studies. I double major in Psychology, though this year Psyche is going on the backburner. The Art History part is really exciting, while the Psychology part gives me some sort of employable skill.

If I ever graduate!

I've moved around a little bit since I was born. Thus far I've lived in Mexico, Sweden, Australia, France and the USA. As for the places I have travelled to, I've done most of Europe, North America and a bit of Australia. I've never been to Asia, apart from a 12 hour stop of in KL. But why am I saying all this? Just to bring up the fact that I am trilingual!!!That's right, three: English, Spanish and French. Italian, Japanese or Mandarin will hopefully come next..

Apart from being a studious little boy, I am also a barman/waiter/manager extraordinaire! Hence the title of this page, "Man behind the man" (at which my mum instantly thought that I was coming out of the closet...not yet mum!). I have a couple of weaknesses. Apart from gourmet food, fashion and stlye, I also love MUSIC! Yes, I once tried to play classical piano and jazz trumpet (both very ill), and at one time, I was even a drummer for a hardcore (heheh) heavy metal band. Why did I stop, I hear you ask? Well, most probably had to do with the fact that I sucked. I do like listening to all different types of music, with perhaps the exception of medievil music..GRRRR.

Not Willow, but a nice bike in Versailles

Versailles, 1997. This is NOT my bike Willow, but it is a nice bike all the same

I was never a sports fan, nor an avid competitor at any stage in my life. I guess my weedy frame was cunteractive to any serious sporting pursuit. I have, however, in my later years (of slow and slovenly decay), developed a taste for Cycling. My bike's name is Willow, with it's own character and it's own temperament. It has a bold streak running through her, yet she is humble in her own little way. If nothing else, she keeps me occupied, and somewhat fitter than I might otherwise be.

Perhaps, however, my biggest weakness is BUFFY THE VAMPYRE SLAYER!. Damn I am hooked on this wonderfull series. I also have a bit of a thing for Willow, played by Alyson Hannigan(which might now explain the name of the bicycle). And no, to answer some peoples questions, it is NOT because she plays a lesbian character! Apart from all of that, life goes on, trying to keep the SF's score as low as possible......

Do you really want to read anymore? Probably not by this point. However, for anyone that has made it this far, here are some more pics and random stuff
