Field of Daize’s

You have to pick a pocket or two.

Well, went into uni for the first time this year. I went there to get my thesis and essay back from last semester. When I got to the office, I found that my supervisor (if you can call him that, or perhaps better put, if you can call me his student) was in the office, and I walked away before he could see me. I’m not terribly happy with him, and I can only imagine he doesn’t like me all that much. Then again, he probably hasn’t seen my face all that much, so he may not even have known who I was. The thing is, I wanted to talk to the admin woman, who seems to like me well enough, and I didn’t want to talk while he was there.

Then, in a moment of inspiration, I remember that I’m elligable for lifetime membership to the union (I was actually elligable last year, but I was too fuzzled to do anything about it). For those of you who don’t know, every year in Sydney Uni, you have to pay an exhorbitant amount of fees, mostly for crap this is defunct, such as a sport union. Part of that fee (not a big part, alas) is for the Student Union. I don’t know how much it is, but the overall fees are in the excees of $460. Life membership means that you can waver that payment forever. This is if you have already payed full time fees for 5 years, which I have more than exceeded. Therefore I am now life-locked with the sydney university union. Joy.

In other news, I got my final mark for the Honours year. It turns out that my last essay got a 73. This sounds like a terrible mark, but consider this. It was handed in a month late, I made the question up without consulting my supervisor, and I never sent him any drafts. This is in comparison to the one that I handed in the first semester, which had many days of talking with supervisor, etc. All things considered, I thought it was a good mark.

The overall mark for the Honours is the same as that of my thesis : 78. To get first class honours, I would have needed a 80, so I got a second class honours. Oh well, so much for wishing on a star.

You might be able to apply for a refund of last year’s fees if you were eligible for life membership then.

    Congratulations on finishing honours.
